Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Richard Alipio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kelsey Curtis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Richard Alipio!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kelsey Curtis!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Donatello Bradman and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Curtis fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Alipio avoids it really well and circles away.

Alipio tries to free his leg and advance position but Curtis is retaining full guard.
Alipio throwing strikes but missing.

Alipio avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alipio stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Curtis swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Curtis looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Curtis avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Alipio working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Curtis drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Alipio dives on top into guard.

Curtis is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Alipio defends well.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Curtis manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Alipio wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Curtis.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Richard Alipio will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Alipio throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Curtis is on top in guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Curtis accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

It looks like Richard Alipio has been cut.
Curtis throws a strike aimed at the side of Alipio's head but Alipio avoids it well.

Curtis postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Alipio gets back to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Curtis looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Curtis has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Curtis is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kelsey Curtis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Alipio's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Alipio manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Curtis on his heels. He'll look to pass Curtis's guard now, I'm sure.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Kelsey Curtis!
Kelsey Curtis decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
