Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Desmond Hume!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ronnie DeMarino!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Donatello Bradman and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from DeMarino is defended easily by Hume.
Hume blocks a jab.
DeMarino ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Hume gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
DeMarino looking to pass the guard.
DeMarino throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hume works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Hume on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hume tries to get out of the position.

Hume can't keep his opponent in guard - DeMarino advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

DeMarino stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hume swivels though and keeps the full guard.

DeMarino pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hume is keeping the position for now.
DeMarino throws an elbow that misses. Hume uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in DeMarino's guard. Nice move by Hume!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Hume won't allow DeMarino to get back to his feet.
DeMarino can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hume controls the pace.

DeMarino has his foot on Hume's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hume works his way back into a safe position though.

Hume postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

DeMarino looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Hume has picked DeMarino up and slammed him! DeMarino can't keep hold of the triangle and Hume manages to pass to side control!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Hume wants to control but DeMarino is keeping him busy.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hume scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at DeMarino to see if he's OK.

Desmond Hume dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


DeMarino stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

DeMarino feints and as Hume raises his hands in defense, DeMarino changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
DeMarino must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Hume is pulling down on DeMarino's head. It's preventing any offense from DeMarino, at least for the moment.
Hume has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as DeMarino accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

DeMarino postures up in Hume's guard and throws a big left but Hume blocks it.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ronnie DeMarino showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Hume closes this distance looking for a takedown but DeMarino circles away.
A left and a right from Hume both land. Nice combination.
DeMarino closes the distance and clinches up with Hume, looking for a takedown. DeMarino pushes Hume against the cage but Hume circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
DeMarino throws a lazy right hand but Hume sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
DeMarino fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Hume keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from DeMarino.

A solid leg kick lands there for Hume.
DeMarino fails with the takedown.
Desmond Hume has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ronnie DeMarino.
Hume doesn't manage to clinch there - DeMarino circles away.
Hume fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but DeMarino avoids it really well and circles away.
Hume shoots in looking for a takedown but DeMarino manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Hume's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

so Hume counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Hume is looking to work some ground and pound but DeMarino has wrist control.

Hume is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

DeMarino is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hume defends well.
DeMarino is trying to keep Hume in close.
Hume wants to control from the top but DeMarino keeps moving.

Hume stands up over DeMarino, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
DeMarino is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hume got a little sloppy there for a moment and DeMarino has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hume has managed to get both his arms back between DeMarino's legs - danger averted.
DeMarino takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

DeMarino controls Hume momentarily but Hume frees himself.

Hume slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Hume cracks DeMarino with a big elbow.
Hume just content to control the position.
Hume connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused DeMarino some visible discomfort.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A big shot lands for Hume! That's hurt DeMarino! Will he recover? Hume fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
