Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Potemkin Buster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ares Constantinides (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Constantinides has chosen War by Judas Priest as his entrance music. Ares Constantinides has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Potemkin Buster!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ares Constantinides!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Paulo Santos and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Constantinides misses with a looping left.
Buster fails with a takedown attempt.
Constantinides fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Buster keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Constantinides stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Constantinides wants it to stay on the feet.
Constantinides throws a body punch but Buster moves out of range.
Buster fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Potemkin Buster. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Buster shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Constantinides counters with a nice leg kick.
Buster tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Constantinides was well out of range. Poor timing from Buster.

Buster dives in and scores a takedown into Constantinides's guard.
Constantinides is trying to keep Buster in close.
Constantinides looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Buster won't allow Constantinides to sweep him here.

Constantinides is adopting a defensive guard.
Buster pushes down on Constantinides's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Constantinides controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Buster prevents Constantinides from improving his position.

Buster is working for a kimura but Constantinides is defending it quite comfortably.

Constantinides is defending against the submission attempts here by Buster.

Constantinides is looking for a sweep. Buster is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Buster is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Constantinides is concentrating on defense, preventing Buster from advancing position.

Buster looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Buster looking for a submission but Constantinides manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.

Buster drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Constantinides manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Buster has Constantinides in his guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Constantinides makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Buster will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Constantinides wants to pass the guard but Buster is keeping the position.
Constantinides throws a big right hand that misses.
Constantinides looking to sit in guard and control but Buster gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Buster drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Constantinides dives on top into guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Constantinides avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Constantinides slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Buster manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Constantinides wants to control but Buster is keeping busy.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ares Constantinides will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Buster changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Constantinides tries to avoid it but Buster manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Constantinides to the ground. Constantinides escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Constantinides lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Constantinides throws a low kick but Buster moves out of range easily.
Constantinides lands with a thumping leg kick.
Constantinides keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.


It looks like Potemkin Buster has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Buster has his takedown stuffed
and Constantinides counters with a right, left combo that wobbles Buster badly! Constantinides follows up with a massive right hook, straight to the bridge of the nose that knocks Buster out cold! Oh wow, what a finish! Very reminiscent of Koscheck vs Yoshida as Constantinides finished him against the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Ares Constantinides! Ares Constantinides retains his light heavyweight title!
Ares Constantinides really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that [JMFC] Arashi Fighting Nutrition Q160 Recovery logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
