The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abente slips a jab and a cross from Mayfield.

Mayfield gets caught flat footed, as Abente shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Abente drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Abente jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Abente lands a couple of elbows.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Mayfield throws a front kick that sends Abente stumbling back into the cage.

A jab-cross combination lands for Mayfield and sends Abente crashing to the mat! Mayfield follows him down to the mat - Abente regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!

It looks like Enrique Abente has been cut.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mayfield doesn't manage to clinch there - Abente circles away.

Abente closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mayfield to the mat! Mayfield manages to get full guard.
