Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Charlie Manson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Byron Turner!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Eliza Hachem and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Manson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Manson showed some decent athleticism there.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Turner can do anything to dispel that myth.
Manson is trying to control the action in half guard but Turner is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Turner is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

Manson wants to work for an arm triangle but Turner is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Turner is refusing to be controlled, as Manson sits in half guard.
Turner is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Turner is pressing down on Manson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Turner has his hands on Manson's head, controlling the position.

Turner manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Manson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Manson has his foot on Turner's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Turner works his way back into a safe position though.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Turner gets tackled into the cage by Manson. Manson maintains the clinch.

Manson drags the fight down to the ground.
Manson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Turner is controlling him.
Turner is stalling in the full guard.
Turner is breathing heavily.

Manson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Turner content to stall in guard here.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Byron Turner.

Manson leaves Turner with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Manson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Turner did well to prevent Manson getting side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!



Manson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Manson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Turner is looking to get to half guard.

Turner bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Turner seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Byron Turner has got the better of the ground game so far.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Byron Turner hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Manson closes the distance and clinches.

Manson manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Manson shoots in and bounces Turner off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Manson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Turner has a closed guard, preventing Manson from standing up.
Manson won't allow Turner to sweep him here.
Manson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Well Manson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
