PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mark Edwards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shawn MacArthur (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Edwards might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to NoMeansNo - I'm an Asshole. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shawn MacArthur!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Skip Squint and Bruno Hogan.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Edwards tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and MacArthur is able to avoid easily.
Edwards takes a swing at MacArthur's ribcage but misses.
MacArthur tries to clinch up but Edwards circles away and keeps his distance.

MacArthur clinches with his opponent.
Edwards gets underhooks to prevent MacArthur's takedown attempt.
MacArthur wants a takedown.
MacArthur avoids the elbow strike from Edwards, against the cage.
Edwards misses with a hook to the ribs.
MacArthur is pushing Edwards up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Mark Edwards has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shawn MacArthur.
MacArthur drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
MacArthur jumps guard but Edwards stands there with MacArthur around his waist. MacArthur gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

MacArthur is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Edwards can't fight it off and eventually MacArthur manages to take the fight to the floor. Edwards looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Edwards knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for MacArthur on the ground.

MacArthur drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and MacArthur jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Edwards is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and MacArthur defends well.

MacArthur gets to his feet - Edwards follows without any prompting.
MacArthur looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Edwards is fending him off so far but MacArthur persists. Nope, Edwards circles away and we're back to standing.

MacArthur tries to close the distance and clinch up but Edwards swats him away and circles back towards the center.

MacArthur shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. MacArthur showed some decent athleticism there.

MacArthur is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Edwards has managed to free his arm - good work.
MacArthur thows a huge punch but Edwards dodges it nicely.
MacArthur throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Edwards to regain full guard.
Edwards is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

MacArthur fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Edwards sprawls well initially but MacArthur persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Edwards has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. MacArthur is working away from the top position though.

MacArthur decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

MacArthur throws a nice looking combination but Edwards bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

MacArthur has Edwards pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Edwards manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Edwards fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and MacArthur has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

MacArthur dives in and grabs Edwards's left leg, looking for a takedown. Edwards pushes down on MacArthur's head and hops out.

Shawn MacArthur is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
MacArthur on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

MacArthur shoots for a double leg takedown but Edwards sprawls well. He's pushed MacArthur's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Mark Edwards spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
