The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weriani lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Weriani looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Weriani works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Weriani wants to pass to mount but Def is defending the position.
Weriani tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Weriani knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Def on the ground.
Weriani stalling.

Def looking for submissions off his back.
Weriani missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Def actively working from the bottom here.
Weriani is looking to take a break and control but Def is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

It looks like Weriani is going to stand back up.
Def gets back to full guard.
Def is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Weriani avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Weriani wants to get up but he can't break Def's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Def holds on and takes a little breather.
Def looks gassed!

Weriani decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Weriani throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Weriani closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Def to the mat! Def manages to get full guard.

Weriani gets to his feet. Def looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Weriani gets a clinch.
Def is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Weriani gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Weriani has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Def uses from the top position.
Def controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Weriani manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Weriani has taken the fight to the clinch.
Def drops down looking for an ankle pick but Weriani pulls his leg out and moves away.

Weriani decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Def avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Weriani.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Weriani wants to stand up but Def is controlling the position.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Weriani looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The fighters are battling for position here. Def manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Def has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Weriani should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Def has tightened it up now! Weriani should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Mos Def!
A less than humble Mos Def misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
