Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kel Varnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Orlando Noriega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Noriega has chosen GO TO SLEEP as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Noriega misses with a body kick.
Varnson lands a nice leg kick that just misses Noriega's sensitive parts.
Varnson lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Varnson throws a combination. Noriega tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

It looks like Orlando Noriega has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Varnson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Varnson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Varnson misses with a jab to the body
and Noriega counters with an outside leg kick.
Noriega uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Varnson.

Noriega fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Varnson to the ground. Noriega is now in Varnson's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Noriega stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Varnson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Varnson wants to stand and escape but Noriega is having none of it.

Varnson seems a little lost for a moment, as Noriega dominates the positioning.

Both fighters take a look at the clock.

Varnson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Noriega wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Noriega had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Varnson defends it easily.
Noriega wants to sweep here but Varnson controlling him for the moment.

Varnson throws the kick towards the body but Noriega avoids it.
Noriega is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Noriega drops Varnson with a beautiful combination! Varnson stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Noriega is looking for the KO!

Varnson doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Kel Varnson's cut is getting worse.
A nice inside leg kick there by Noriega. That's going to slow Varnson down.
Both fighters circling a little - Noriega finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Varnson takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Varnson seems to have got his legs back now.

Noriega fails with a takedown attempt.
Noriega throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Varnson stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Noriega drives through with a takedown into guard.
Varnson wants to stand up but Noriega is controlling him.
Varnson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Noriega controls the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Noriega stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Varnson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Varnson has momentary wrist control but Noriega slips an elbow through the middle.
Noriega has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Noriega thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Varnson's head.
Noriega takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
