PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Carson Holliday (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Ang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Holliday comes to the cage accompanied by One Big Holiday by My Morning Jacket. Ang comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Darude - Sandstorm kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

With a record of 15 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, George Ang!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Steve Montenegro and Bruno Lombardi.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Holliday shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ang but Ang pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Holliday has a takedown stuffed.
Ang lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Holliday circles away quickly and effectively.
Sloppy strikes from Ang. Those never looked like landing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ang keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carson Holliday. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ang throws a right hand that Holliday ducks under and follows up with a left that Holliday also avoids with ease.

Holliday drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Holliday postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Ang is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Holliday, into his guard.
Ang tries to stand but Holliday is controlling from the bottom.

Holliday is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ang is aware though and is defending well.

Holliday utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Ang trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Holliday has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ang can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ang landing with the ground and pound.
Ang throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Holliday is trying to control the position but Ang postures up.
Holliday will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Ang postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Ang postures up in Holliday's guard and throws a big left but Holliday blocks it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Holliday escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ang gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Ang got a little sloppy there for a moment and Holliday has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ang has managed to get both his arms back between Holliday's legs - danger averted.
Ang throws an elbow that misses. Holliday uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ang's guard. Nice move by Holliday!
Holliday trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Ang is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Holliday wants to control but Ang is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Ang stalling away here and it's allowed Holliday to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Ang lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Holliday is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Ang rolls with it to try and escape but Holliday cranks on the arm and Ang is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

A very excited looking Carson Holliday rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
