PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Erek Horton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Austin McCoy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Horton comes to the cage accompanied by Sandman. McCoy has chosen Voices as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Erek Horton has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Austin McCoy!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Bruno Hogan and Skip Squint.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McCoy feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Horton is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
McCoy is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
McCoy content to stall in guard here.

McCoy stands up and waves to Horton to follow him.

Horton drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
McCoy sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Horton knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McCoy on the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Horton has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, McCoy works to full guard.
McCoy lands some strikes from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McCoy working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Horton doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but McCoy is tightening it up a little... Horton has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Horton reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Horton taps out! Nice BJJ there by McCoy!

In his post fight interview, Austin McCoy started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
