The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rotten throws a looping overhand right but Helio ducks down to avoid it.
Helio tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Rotten is able to avoid easily.

Rotten tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Helio manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Rotten.
Rotten thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Helio if he has to take too many more of those.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Rotten throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Rotten feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Helios jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Helio jumps guard but Rotten turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Helio jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rotten walks away with a smile on his face. Helio gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Helio has a takedown stuffed.
Johnny Rotten has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mikal Helio.

Helio misses with an attempted mid kick.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Helio crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Rotten - the referee stops the clock and Helio gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Rotten. Helio manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Helio seems frustrated at his inability to get double underhooks.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Rotten here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Helio's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Helio's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Rotten connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Helio scrambles back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rotten creates some distance for himselfand unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Helio's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Helio drops to his knees and Rotten pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
