Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Twighy Pupples!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Melekh David!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Leandro Rodrigues and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pupples changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. David tries to avoid it but Pupples manages to keep hold of a leg and drag David to the ground. David escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
David rushes Pupples and presses him up against the cage.
David breaks from the clinch.
Pupples tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Pupples misses with a series of wild punches.
Horrible takedown by Pupples or perhaps it was just good defense by David which made him look bad.
David throws a right and a left that Pupples avoids nicely.
Pupples darts in trying to clinch
and David counters with a one-two to the body.
David clinches up with Pupples and pushes him back against the cage.
Pupples is trying to pull guard but David has him pressed against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Twighy Pupples. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pupples wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but David has him pressed against the cage.
David escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
David connects with a body shot that sends Pupples's belly button to the back.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Nice takedown defense from David. No joy for Pupples on that attempt.
David moves into range and clinches up with Pupples.
A body shot lands from David.
Pupples wants to break free but David has control.
David presses Pupples against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Pupples is breathing heavily.
David gets through Pupples's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
David lands a left hand.

Pupples is rocked!
David lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Oh Pupples is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Nice body punch from David - that landed with a thud.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
David lands a body punch.
David throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
David escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Pupples seems to have got his legs back now.
David lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
David closes the distance and lands a crisp combination that knocks Pupples out cold! Pupples corner are devastated, head in hands behind our commentary position. Poor guys.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:08 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Melekh David!
Melekh David decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
