And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Romano Schoots!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Chris Edwards and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kwaak takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Kwaak avoids the body shot from Schoots.
Kwaak tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Kwaak leaves Schoots with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Sam Kwaak seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Schoots moves into range and clinches up with Kwaak.
Schoots displaying some good clinch control by pressing Kwaak up against the cage.
Kwaak is struggling to control the position.
Kwaak throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Schoots blocks it with crossed arms.
Schoots softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Kwaak lands a nice elbow.


It looks like Romano Schoots has been cut.
Schoots is pressed up against the cage. Kwaak has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Schoots down to the mat. Schoots avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Kwaak moves out of range of the strikes.

Schoots uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kwaak.
Schoots throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kwaak sees it coming and avoids it easily.
A jab from Schoots misses.
Schoots connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Kwaak momentarily.
Kwaak throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Kwaak fails with a takedown attempt.
Kwaak wants to slow Schoots down by chopping away at his legs.
Schoots doesn't manage to clinch there - Kwaak circles away.
Kwaak lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Kwaak lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Kwaak keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Schoots.
Schoots avoids the head kick by Kwaak.
Schoots is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kwaak.
Schoots connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Schoots takes a swing at Kwaak's ribcage but misses.
Schoots is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Schoots throws out a loose jab but Kwaak uses good head movement to avoid it.
Schoots misses with a hook.
Kwaak lands a nice looking kick to the body. Schoots takes a step back to recover.

Schoots blocks a low kick nicely.
Schoots throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Kwaak scoring well with a low kick there.

Kwaak moves into the clinch.
Kwaak has Schoots pressed against the cage.
Kwaak misses with a punch on the inside.

Kwaak turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Kwaak with the ground and pound but Schoots regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Kwaak sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Schoots defending well though.

Schoots trying to hold on to Kwaak's head to control him but Kwaak postures up.
Schoots wants to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kwaak throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Kwaak seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Schoots does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Kwaak throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Schoots keeping hold of Kwaak's head, controlling as best he can.
Kwaak thows a huge punch but Schoots dodges it nicely.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kwaak lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Schoots works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Kwaak fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Schoots.
Kwaak bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Sam Kwaak is winning the standup battle so far.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kwaak throws a wild body kick that Schoots sees coming a mile off.
Schoots throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Kwaak dives in and scores a takedown into Schoots's guard.

Kwaak working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Schoots's head.
Kwaak wants to pass the guard but Schoots is keeping the position.
Schoots is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Kwaak has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Schoots wants to control but Kwaak is keeping him busy.
Schoots is looking to pass Kwaak's guard but actually Kwaak recovers to full guard.

Schoots avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Kwaak keeping moving, preventing Schoots from controlling successfully.

Kwaak looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Kwaak bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Schoots's guard.
Schoots preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Schoots keeping full guard, as Kwaak tries to pass.
Kwaak postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Kwaak trying to control the position from guard on top but Schoots is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Kwaak with a flurry of punches that miss.
Schoots has momentary wrist control but Kwaak slips an elbow through the middle.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Schoots is on top in guard.

Kwaak has his foot on Schoots's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Schoots works his way back into a safe position though.
Kwaak is trying to control the position but Schoots postures up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Schoots works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Sam Kwaak overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Kwaak tries to close the distance and clinch up but Schoots swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Kwaak takes a swing at Schoots's ribcage but misses.
Kwaak shoots in looking for a takedown but Schoots manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kwaak's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Kwaak slips a straight right by Schoots.
Schoots swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Kwaak keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kwaak misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kwaak lands a really nice looking cross but Schoots seems unphased.

Schoots forces Kwaak back against the cage and clinches.
Kwaak looking to throw knees to the head but Schoots is blocking nicely.

It looks like Sam Kwaak has been cut.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Kwaak just misses with a elbow thrown towards Schoots's brow.
Schoots is trying to maintain a safe position but Kwaak gets an underhook and turns Schoots into the cage.

Schoots gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Kwaak.

Schoots is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Kwaak has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Schoots is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sam Kwaak. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Schoots has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Kwaak avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Kwaak darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Schoots tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kwaak paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Schoots looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Kwaak!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kwaak is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Sam Kwaak is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Schoots content just to control the position here.

Kwaak is desperately trying to improve his position but Schoots has a good base and remains in mount.
Romano Schoots has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sam Kwaak.
Well Kwaak has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
