Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ron Lemieux (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stan Rivers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rivers is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Cyco Vision. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ron Lemieux!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stan Rivers!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Yves DeLean and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lemieux throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Rivers digs a good hook to Lemieux's body.
Rivers scores with a jab. Lemieux acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Lemieux throws a head kick that misses.
Lemieux throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Rivers swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Rivers throws a hook to the side of Lemieux's head but Lemieux sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Lemieux ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Rivers misses with the combination.
Rivers fails to land with a series of punches.
Lemieux takes a swing at Rivers's ribcage but misses.
Rivers loads up on a big right hand but Lemieux slips the punch.
Lemieux shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rivers as he jumps to the side.
Lemieux misses with a body shot.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rivers scores with a jab to the jaw.
Lemieux throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rivers's waist but Rivers gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lemieux off to one side.
Lemieux will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ron Lemieux. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lemieux shoots in and drives through. Rivers sprawls well.
Lemieux is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Rivers.

Lemieux looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rivers is fending him off so far but Lemieux persists. Nope, Rivers circles away and we're back to standing.
Rivers takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Rivers throws a looping overhand right but Lemieux ducks down to avoid it.
Rivers rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lemieux moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Lemieux throws the left hand but Rivers avoids the punch easily.
A combination from Rivers does no damage.
Lemieux throws a hook but Rivers avoids it easily.
Rivers lands with a right hand.
A jab from Lemieux misses.
Rivers stuns Lemieux with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Lemieux shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Rivers manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Rivers is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Lemieux wants to pass the guard but Rivers is keeping the position.
Rivers controls Lemieux momentarily but Lemieux frees himself.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Lemieux throws a body punch but Rivers moves out of range.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rivers keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Rivers tries to bum rush Lemieux with a series of wild strikes but Lemieux uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Lemieux really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Lemieux drops back looking for a leg! Rivers is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Rivers manages to kick Lemieux off! Lemieux jumps back into Rivers's guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

A close round but Stan Rivers will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Rivers gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Rivers really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lemieux. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Lemieux takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ron Lemieux.
Rivers displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lemieux.
Rivers ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lemieux is defended easily by Rivers.

Rivers is in trouble now - Lemieux has advanced to mount!

Rivers is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Lemieux off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Lemieux is persistently looking for the submission but Rivers is defending it well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lemieux is not going to allow Rivers to sit and survive in this position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Oooh a big shot gets through from Lemieux. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stan Rivers is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Lemieux throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Lemieux seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Lemieux wants to work for an arm triangle but Rivers is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Lemieux in particular looking to stall.

Lemieux is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Lemieux content to control rather than advance.
