Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joe Hughs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thomas comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Muse - Knights of Cydonia kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughs throws out a loose jab but Thomas uses good head movement to avoid it.

Hughs has closed the distance and engaged Thomas in a clinch.
Thomas blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Hughs tries to score with a low kick but Thomas moves his leg out of the way.
Thomas looks to land a combination but Hughs avoids it well.

Hughs stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hughs wants it to stay on the feet.

Thomas is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hughs is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Thomas tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Thomas has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Thomas swings around for an armbar but Hughs sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Thomas's guard.
