Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Abaka Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Kyler Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Kyler Nelson!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Arvi Lind and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nelson gets tackled into the cage by Khan. Khan maintains the clinch.
Khan keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Nelson's efforts to push away.
Khan is trying to maintain a safe position but Nelson gets an underhook and turns Khan into the cage.
Nelson wants a takedown.
Khan is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Nelson is defending well for now.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Nelson is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Nelson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Khan does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Nelson is working for a submission of some sort.
Nelson is looking to take a break and control but Khan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Nelson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Khan is just riding it out for now. Nelson eventually gives up the hold.

Nelson is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Nelson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Khan has managed to free his arm - good work.

Nelson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Khan sees it coming and defends easily.

Nelson takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nelson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Nelson gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Khan has Nelson up against the cage in a clinch.
Nelson is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Khan is defending well.
Abaka Khan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Kyler Nelson.
Khan is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Maybe Khan would be better served going for some more strikes rather than trying to control so much.

Nelson is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Khan pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Nelson misses with a hook to the ribs.
Khan is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Nelson pulls guard successfully.
Khan wants to control from the top but Nelson keeps moving.
Khan would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Nelson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Khan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nelson is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Kyler Nelson dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Khan moves into the clinch.

Khan has Nelson pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Khan pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Nelson tumbling to the mat - Khan dives into Nelson's guard.

Nelson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Khan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Nelson will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Nelson looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Khan wants to stand and escape but instead Nelson has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Nelson has gone for a leg lock! Khan slips out almost immediately though and dives into Nelson's guard.
Nelson seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Let's hope that Nelson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Nelson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Khan is in all sorts of trouble here.

Nelson is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Nelson extends the arm and Khan is forced to tap!
