The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Doherty is looking to clinch but Szczevnikov is avoiding it.
Szczevnikov on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Doherty. Doherty obviously looking to wear him down.
Doherty shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Doherty was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Szczevnikov is trying to reverse the position but instead Doherty has taken his back - oops!
Doherty is trying to stick to Szczevnikov's back but Szczevnikov is turning into Doherty. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Doherty's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Szczevnikov.
Szczevnikov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Doherty swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Doherty wants to sweep but no luck.
Szczevnikov postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Doherty is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Szczevnikov, into his guard.
Doherty is pushing down on Szczevnikov's leg trying to pass to half guard. Szczevnikov is fighting to maintain full guard but Doherty has managed to sneak the leg through.

Szczevnikov has his foot on Doherty's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Doherty works his way back into a safe position though.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Szczevnikov is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Szczevnikov is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Doherty has latched onto it... Big trouble! Doherty pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Szczevnikov is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Doherty!
