Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Slopey Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Sam Takiki Jr!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Matti Vanhoillinen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Takiki Jr - that will leave a mark!
Smith pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A good leg kick by Smith.
Smith checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Takiki Jr avoids the head kick by Smith.
Takiki Jr steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Smith.
Smith loads up on a big right hand but Takiki Jr slips the punch.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Smith, right into the meat.
Takiki Jr throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Smith stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Smith shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Takiki Jr as he avoids it easily.

Smith lands with a nice body punch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Takiki Jr lands with a slapping head kick.
Smith misses with a lunging right hand
and Takiki Jr counters with a straight right hand.
Takiki Jr throws a body kick that misses.
Smith lands with a cross.
Smith tries to score a power double leg takedown but Takiki Jr sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Smith somewhat.

Smith misses with a wild body shot.
Takiki Jr thows a leg kick but Smith checks it
and Smith counters with a right hand to the body.
Smith tries a head kick but it misses.

Smith looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Smith postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Smith looking to sit in guard and control but Takiki Jr gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Takiki Jr is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Smith wants to improve his position but instead Takiki Jr has moved into half guard.

Takiki Jr is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Smith has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Takiki Jr is working away from the top position though.
Takiki Jr is keen to just control but Smith is a slippery customer.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Sam Takiki Jr hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Smith feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Takiki Jr's calf.
Smith throws out a leg kick but Takiki Jr moves out of range and Smith only half commits.
A low kick from Takiki Jr misses
and Smith counters with an inside leg kick.
Takiki Jr throws a low kick but Smith avoids it.
Smith looks to land a body kick but Takiki Jr moved away.
Smith lands a right hook to the body.
Smith takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Takiki Jr pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Takiki Jr uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Smith.
A slow jab from Smith misses its intended target.
Smith motions for Takiki Jr to come forward. Smith throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Takiki Jr fails with an attempt to clinch.
Takiki Jr bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Smith's head.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Takiki Jr throws out a leg kick but Smith moves out of range and Takiki Jr only half commits.
Takiki Jr is looking to clinch.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Smith.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

and Takiki Jr cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Takiki Jr scoring well with a low kick there.
Smith throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Slopey Smith will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Smith chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Takiki Jr can pounce on him.
Takiki Jr throws a push kick but Smith slaps the foot to one side.
Takiki Jr lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Takiki Jr throws a jab when Smith was well out of range.
Takiki Jr throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

Smith throws an elbow that misses. Takiki Jr uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Smith's guard. Nice move by Takiki Jr!
Smith wants to sweep here but Takiki Jr controlling him for the moment.

Smith escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Takiki Jr gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Smith is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Smith tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Smith has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Takiki Jr can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Smith here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Takiki Jr stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Slopey Smith will probably get the nod.

Smith does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Takiki Jr gets cracked there but stands up to it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Smith is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Takiki Jr has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Slopey Smith showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Smith has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
