The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sonnen throws a right hand that Lombard ducks under and follows up with a left that Lombard also avoids with ease.
Lombard showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Sonnen.
Sonnen fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Sonnen throws a nice looking combination but Lombard bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Lombard gets a double leg takedown into Sonnen's guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Lombard trying to control but Sonnen is working from the bottom.

Sonnen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lombard. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sonnen pushes Lombard off and gets back to his feet.

Lombard throws a lazy right hand but Sonnen sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Lombard shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Sonnen's guard.

Lombard has gone for a leg lock! Sonnen slips out almost immediately though and dives into Lombard's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
