PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Weissmuller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pierre LePew (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Johnny Weissmuller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pierre LePew!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, William Peck and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weissmuller tries for a takedown but LePew sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Weissmuller shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with LePew but LePew pushes him off and we're back to square one.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Weissmuller.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Weissmuller. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Weissmuller shoots in but LePew avoids the takedown attempt easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Weissmuller fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Weissmuller checks a leg kick.

LePew closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Weissmuller is trying to get back to full guard.
LePew trying to control from Weissmuller's half guard. Weissmuller has other ideas though and has regained full guard.

LePew stands up and waves to Weissmuller to follow him.

and LePew counters with a nice double leg into side control. Weissmuller won't be happy with that.
LePew laying and praying for a moment but Weissmuller takes advantage and regains half guard.
Weissmuller is staying active underneath LePew, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

LePew is working for a kimura but Weissmuller is defending it quite comfortably.
Weissmuller is refusing to be controlled, as LePew sits in half guard.

Weissmuller wants to improve his position but LePew is controlling well.
LePew wants to pass the guard but Weissmuller is defending well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Weissmuller tries for a takedown but LePew circles away easily

and LePew counters with a shoot takedown. Weissmuller fights it but they end up in guard.
Weissmuller wants to sweep here but LePew controlling him for the moment.

Pierre LePew dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



LePew looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Weissmuller!

LePew goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Weissmuller turns into him and now he's in LePew's guard.
Weissmuller wants to control from the top but LePew keeps moving.

LePew working for a triangle but Weissmuller defends it easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
LePew is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

LePew has an active guard here but Weissmuller has managed to pass into half guard.
LePew is breathing heavily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
LePew is not content to let Weissmuller control the position.
Weissmuller is looking to advance position but LePew won't allow it.
Weissmuller performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
LePew is looking to improve his position.

Weissmuller is tying to control. LePew wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

LePew actively working from the bottom here.
Weissmuller trying to control the action but LePew is working from the bottom.
LePew wants to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Weissmuller shoots and misses

and LePew counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Weissmuller manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. LePew manages to get himself to full guard.
Weissmuller pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. LePew is keeping the position for now.

LePew looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Weissmuller wants to control from the top but LePew keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pierre LePew showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


LePew throws a wild body kick that Weissmuller sees coming a mile off.
Weissmuller shoots and misses
enabling LePew to counter with a crisp jab.
Weissmuller misses with a takedown attempt
and LePew counters with a left and a right that stings Weissmuller.
Weissmuller tries to clinch

and LePew counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Weissmuller tries to roll over but LePew keeps him under control.
LePew is thwarting Weissmuller's attempts to control the position.

LePew works his way into full mount!
Weissmuller wants to control but LePew is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

LePew has control of Weissmuller's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Weissmuller regains control of the situation pretty easily.
LePew tries to control but Weissmuller wriggling away.

LePew is working for a guillotine from mount but Weissmuller frees his head quite easily.
LePew takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Weissmuller can't escape the position.

Weissmuller is working hard here to advance position.

LePew swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Weissmuller is now in LePew's guard. A big mistake from LePew there, giving up the dominant position!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
LePew wants to sweep but no luck.
LePew keeping moving, preventing Weissmuller from controlling successfully.

LePew is looking for a triangle but Weissmuller pushes his legs off easily.
Johnny Weissmuller has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
LePew not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

And that's the end of the fight!
Pierre LePew comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well LePew has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
