The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mellark closes the distance and clinches.
Vargas blocks an uppercut.
A left hand lands to the body for Mellark.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Vargas lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Mellark tries to work over Vargas's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Still in the clinch, Mellark scores with a nice short uppercut.

The fighters circling - Vargas throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Mellark throws a head kick that misses.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mellark misses with a wild body shot.
Vargas throws a hook to the side of Mellark's head but Mellark sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

That was a close round but I would say that Alex Vargas will probably get the nod.

Mellark bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Vargas's head.
Vargas swats away the attempt to clinch by Mellark.
