Heidegger comes to the cage accompanied by Heartbeats. Rutten has chosen El Guapo Likes to Dance as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Martin Heidegger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bas Rutten!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Fedor Mirinova and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Heidegger misses with a low kick.
Heidegger feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Ruttens jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Rutten lands a jab to the head.
Rutten throws a head kick but Heidegger moves out of range.
Heidegger pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Rutten throws a wild body kick that Heidegger sees coming a mile off.
Heidegger pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Rutten back to the cage. Heidegger follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Heidegger takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rutten throws a nice head kick!
Heidegger throws the left hand but Rutten avoids the punch easily.

A head kick lands from Heidegger that sends Rutten to the canvas. Rutten tries to scramble back to his feet but Heidegger brings him back down into side control.


Rutten is rocked!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Heidegger landing strikes.
Rutten is still in real trouble! Can Heidegger finish him?
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Heidegger wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rutten keeps working.

Heidegger taking a break here but Rutten is having none of it and regains half guard.
Rutten seems to have recovered his senses.
Rutten moves into full guard.

Rutten looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rutten not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Rutten has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Heidegger doesn't defend quickly enough and Rutten has managed to lock this one up! Can Heidegger escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Rutten on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Bas Rutten!
After winning the bout, Bas Rutten thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
