PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between LM Fao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Samuel Washington (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Fao might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to LMFAO - Sorry For Party Rocking. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Samuel Washington!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Steve Montenegro and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fao fails to land the takedown.
Washington lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Fao fails with the takedown.
Washington wants to clinch up but Fao keeps it at a distance.
Fao looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Washington is fending him off so far but Fao persists. Nope, Washington circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for LM Fao. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fao needs to keep his hands up - Washington had a free shot at his head there.
Washington throws a shot to the body.
Fao circles away from the clinch attempt.
Washington slaps away a takedown attempt from Fao, before circling back to the center of the mat.
A jab from Washington does it's job there.
Fao shoots for a takedown but Washington saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Fao.
Washington fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Fao misses with a takedown attempt - Washington sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Fao takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Washington wants to clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sloppy strikes from Washington. Those never looked like landing.
Fao shoots in and drives through. Washington sprawls well.
Washington lands with a shot to the body.
Fao shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Washington sprawls well. Washington wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Fao gets slowly back to his feet.
Fao is breathing heavily.
Washington slaps away a takedown attempt from Fao, before circling back to the center of the mat.
LM Fao seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Washington throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Fao stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Washington lands a glancing blow to the side of Fao's head.
Fao takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Fao shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Washington's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Fao postures up.

Washington is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Fao defends well.
Fao tries to free his leg and advance position but Washington is retaining full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Washington wants to sweep but no luck.
Washington is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Washington keeping moving, preventing Fao from controlling successfully.
Fao passes Washington's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Fao scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Washington trying to control from the bottom.
Washington really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fao. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Fao working over Washington with some ground and pound. Washington looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Washington is trying to control but can't.
Fao trying to control from half guard but Washington is working away.

Fao is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Washington defends it well.
Washington is refusing to be controlled, as Fao sits in half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fao drops an elbow to the side of Washington's head.
Washington tries to roll over but Fao keeps him under control.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Fao lands strikes from half guard.
Fao landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Washington wants to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fao wants to take a breather but Washington is having none of it.

Fao controlling the action here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fao lands with a punch from half guard.
Fao winds up and cracks Washington with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Washington has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Fao is working away from the top position though.

Fao is looking for a kimura but Washington is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Fao to get the leverage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Fao is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Washington is just riding it out for now. Fao eventually gives up the hold.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Washington is looking to control Fao's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Washington avoid being mounted?
Washington on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Fao looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Washington with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Fao in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Washington tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Fao!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). LM Fao!
