Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Caio Pardo!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Alexandre Firmino and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pardo tries to bum rush Ruut with a series of wild strikes but Ruut uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Pardo circles away from the clinch attempt
and Pardo counters with a head kick.
Ruut tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Pardo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Ruut moves in looking to clinch but Pardo pushes him off.
Pardo lands with a shot to the body.
Ruut tries to clinch there but Pardo circles away.
Pardo throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Pardo swings widly with a right hand

and Ruut counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Pardo's guard now.

Ruut is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ruut sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Pardo's guard.

Ruut is trying to work for a kimura but Pardo is defending well.

Ruut maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Pardo could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Ruut has cracked it and Pardo is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Ruut!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Gim Ruut!
Gim Ruut retains his bantamweight title!
