Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Takeshi Yuudai!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Curtis Sharp!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Bruno Hogan and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yuudai fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Sharp slips under a jab.
Sharp tries to clinch but Yuudai is having none of it.
Sharp misses with a straight left.
Yuudai drops his hands momentarily and Sharp takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Sharp slaps away a takedown attempt from Yuudai, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Yuudai scores with a one two! Sharp had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Sharp misses with a jab to the body

and Yuudai counters with a shoot takedown. Sharp fights it but they end up in guard.
Yuudai is pushing down on Sharp's leg trying to pass to half guard. Sharp is fighting to maintain full guard but Yuudai has managed to sneak the leg through.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Yuudai wants to control but Sharp is keeping him busy.
Yuudai has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Yuudai with shots to the head and body - Sharp looks very uncomfortable down there.

Yuudai dominating with strikes here.
Yuudai working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Yuudai has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Yuudai thowing shots but they're missing.
Yuudai looking to ground and pound but Sharp is blocking nicely.

Yuudai has control of Sharp's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Sharp regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Sharp really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Yuudai. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sharp is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Yuudai looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Yuudai misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sharp can't escape the position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sharp is squirming around, avoiding Yuudai's attempts to control the action.
Sharp is desperately trying to improve his position but Yuudai has a good base and remains in mount.
Yuudai is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Sharp can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Yuudai throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Yuudai looking to finish with strikes here!
Sharp is looking to get to half guard.
Yuudai avoids the attempt from Sharp to control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Yuudai landing strikes, looking to finish!
Sharp is looking to improve his position but Yuudai isn't that keen on the idea.
Yuudai scoring with strikes but Sharp is staying in there.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Sharp can't escape the position.
Yuudai with a couple of short strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Yuudai throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Yuudai can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sharp is looking to escape.

Yuudai goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Sharp turns into him and now he's in Yuudai's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Yuudai keeping full guard, as Sharp tries to pass.

Yuudai has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Sharp doesn't defend quickly enough and Yuudai has managed to lock this one up! Can Sharp escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Yuudai on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Takeshi Yuudai!
