PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Renata Sobrawl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Big Hurt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sobrawl comes to the cage accompanied by Eye of the Tiger. Big Hurt will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Big Hurt!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Emerson Jorge and Edson Gomes.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sobrawl gets a double leg takedown into Hurt's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Sobrawl trying to control the position from guard on top but Hurt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sobrawl tries to free his leg and advance position but Hurt is retaining full guard.
Hurt wants to stand up but Sobrawl is controlling him.

Hurt uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Sobrawl changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hurt looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sobrawl has knee on belly momentarily but Hurt bucks him off and regains half guard.
Sobrawl stops Hurt from getting back to his feet.

Sobrawl missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Sobrawl wants to work for an arm triangle but Hurt is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Hurt is staying active underneath Sobrawl, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Sobrawl prevents Hurt from improving his position.

Sobrawl is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hurt has managed to free his arm - good work.

Sobrawl is looking for a kimura but Hurt is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sobrawl to get the leverage.

Sobrawl lands strikes from half guard.
Sobrawl wants to pass to mount but Hurt is defending the position.
Sobrawl performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Sobrawl is looking to take a break and control but Hurt is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Sobrawl has gone for a leg lock! Hurt slips out almost immediately though and dives into Sobrawl's guard.

Hurt gets to his feet. Sobrawl looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Sobrawl tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hurt swivels and escapes.
Hurt stuffs the takedown.

Sobrawl closes the distance and clinches up with Hurt, looking for a takedown. Sobrawl pushes Hurt against the cage but Hurt circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Renata Sobrawl. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Good leg kick by Hurt there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Hurt wants to slow Sobrawl down by chopping away at his legs.
Hurt's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Hurt duly obliges.
Hurt fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Sobrawl looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Hurt lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Sobrawl has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Sobrawl and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Sobrawl shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hurt manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Renata Sobrawl will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Hurt pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A punch lands to the side of Sobrawl 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Hurt with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Sobrawl to score with a decent uppercut.
Hurt misses with an attempted mid kick.
Sobrawl takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Hurt throws a head kick but Sobrawl moves out of range.
Sobrawl shoots in for a takedown but Hurt shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

and Hurt counters with a head kick. That will keep Sobrawl thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Both fighters circling a little - Hurt finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Sobrawl shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Hurt counters with a nice uppercut.

Hurt throws a sloppy head kick and Sobrawl moves out of range easily.
Sobrawl closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Sobrawl is rocked!
The fighters circle, before Hurt throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Sobrawl's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Hurt lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick & Punches). Big Hurt! Big Hurt retains his bantamweight title!
Big Hurt really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that ANABOLIC **160** logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
