Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mitsuyo Maeda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby Mann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mitsuyo Maeda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bobby Mann!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maeda stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Mann wants to clinch

and Maeda counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Maeda seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Mann is looking for a sweep. Maeda is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Maeda has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Mann is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Maeda scores with a couple of nice shots.
Mann manages to get to full guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Mann is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Maeda defends well.

Mann manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Maeda manages to get himself to full guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Maeda holds on and takes a little breather.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mitsuyo Maeda wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Maeda loads up on a big right hand but Mann slips the punch.
Maeda jabs Mann right on the nose. Mann blinks but takes it well.

Mann is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Mann gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

We're going to have a standup here because Mitsuyo Maeda wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Mann keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Maeda looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Maeda landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Maeda is nestled in close to Mann, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Mann tries to roll over but Maeda keeps him under control.
Maeda takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
The fighters are battling for position here. Mann manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Mann working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Maeda doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Maeda manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Mann has his foot on Maeda's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Maeda works his way back into a safe position though.

Maeda is working Mann over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Maeda is looking for a kimura but Mann is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Maeda to get the leverage.

Mann is wriggling around trying to escape.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Maeda is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Mann can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Maeda fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Maeda can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Mann is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mitsuyo Maeda dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Maeda scores with a punch to the head.
Maeda lands with a straight right. Mann didn't see that one coming.
Mann takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Mann takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Maeda throws a nice looking combination but Mann bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Maeda closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Mitsuyo Maeda overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Maeda lands a decent elbow from side control.
Mann is working to avoid the ground and pound but Maeda connects with a decent elbow.

Maeda scores with punches from side control.
Mann stops Maeda from passing to mount.
Mann on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Mann tries to buck Maeda off but Maeda is having none of it.
Mann takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Mann is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Maeda is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Maeda wants to take a breather but Mann is having none of it.
Maeda passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Mann!

Maeda is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Mann to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Mann shrugs it off.

Mann is trying desperately to improve position.
Mann wants to control but Maeda is having none of it.

Maeda can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Mann is looking to escape.

Mann is in a horrible position here. Maeda smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Mann bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Mann stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Maeda swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Maeda looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Mann seems to have recovered his senses.

Mann wants to pass the guard but Maeda is keeping the position.

Maeda is pulling down on Mann's head to control his posture.

Mann takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Mann has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Mann there as he acknowledges the shot.
Maeda keeps the fight on the outside.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Maeda misses with a punch to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Maeda tries to throw a body punch but Mann avoids it by throwing Maeda back against the cage.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Maeda swats away the attempt to clinch by Mann.

Mann tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Maeda paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Maeda is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Maeda is looking to take a break and control but Mann is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Mann is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Maeda scores with a couple of nice shots.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Maeda connects with a nice short shot to Mann's temple.

Maeda is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Maeda slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Maeda throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mann works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Maeda wants to control from the top but Mann keeps moving.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mann bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Maeda's guard.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Well Maeda has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Mitsuyo Maeda spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
