The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Tiny Johnson and Chris Downing.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Steve shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Sares napping and manages to drive through into side control!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Sares is trying to improve his position.
Sares seems a little lost for a moment, as Steve dominates the positioning.
Sares really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Sares is looking for a sweep.
Sares trying to remain calm as Steve controls from the top position.

Steve decides to stand up, so the ref orders Sares to his feet.

Steve looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Steve wants to pass to mount but Sares is defending the position.

Steve decides to return to a standing position.

Steve drives through with a takedown into guard.
Steve is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Ossss Steve wasn't active enough on the ground.

Steve shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Steve showed some decent athleticism there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Steve throwing shots but Sares is blocking nicely.

Steve stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Steve has eaten all the pies!
Sares is breathing heavily.

Steve shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Sares napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Steve passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Sares!
Sares tries to improve his position but instead Steve has taken his back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Steve controls the action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sares avoids the strikes from Steve.
Steve controlling from the back.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sares knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Steve on the ground.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ossss Steve was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Sares tries for a takedown but Steve circles away easily

and Steve counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Steve.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ossss Steve dominated that round.
That's time! Sares's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Steve shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Steve frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Steve punching from mount but Sares doing a good job of avoiding damage.

Steve quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Steve but it's paid off an Sares is forced to tap! Nice work by Steve.
