PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cross Odenkirk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Monk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Monk has chosen Master P - Heaven For A Gangsta as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Cross Odenkirk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marcus Monk!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Ivan Kurochkin and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Odenkirk shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Monk as he avoids it easily.
Odenkirk tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Monk counters with a stiff right hand.
Monk lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Monk throws a head kick that misses.
Monk lands with a nice body kick.
Monk throws a nice inside leg kick.
Monk lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Odenkirk at a distance.
Odenkirk leaves Monk with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Crunch! Monk slams his shin into Odenkirk's torso.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Odenkirk moves in looking to clinch but Monk pushes him off.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Monk cracks Odenkirk with a right hand to the side of the head.
Monk tries a head kick but it misses.
Odenkirk tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Monk counters with a leg kick.
Monk lands a slapping body shot.
Monk avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Odenkirk tries to clinch up but Monk circles away and keeps his distance.
Monk throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Monk thows a body shot but no joy.
Odenkirk is looking to land body kicks.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Monk lands a nice hook to Odenkirk's body. Odenkirk takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Monk goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Odenkirk tries to clinch but Monk is having none of it.
Odenkirk looks to clinch
and Monk counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Marcus Monk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Odenkirk is looking to clinch but Monk is avoiding it.
Nice body punch from Monk.
Monk lands with a shot to the body.
Monk cracks a nice hook into Odenkirk's ribs.
Monk scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Odenkirk misses with a wild body shot.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Monk checks a leg kick.
Odenkirk misses with a takedown attempt
and Monk counters with a right hand to the body.

Monk darts in and clinches Odenkirk up against the cage.
Monk's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Monk drops down looking for an ankle pick but Odenkirk pulls his leg out and moves away.
Monk feints and then cracks Odenkirk's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Odenkirk down.
Monk cracks Odenkirk with a right hand to the side of the head.
Good leg kick by Monk there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Monk cracks the inside of Odenkirk's front leg.
Odenkirk darts in trying to clinch
and Monk counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Odenkirk thinking.
Monk clobbers Odenkirk with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Monk cracks Odenkirk with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Odenkirk tries to clinch but Monk is having none of it.
Monk is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Odenkirk rather than just go for the knockout.
Monk connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Odenkirk.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcus Monk dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Odenkirk takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Monk, as that shot connected.
Cross Odenkirk is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Monk closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Odenkirk quickly recovers to half guard.
Monk tries to pass to full mount but Odenkirk defends it.
Odenkirk gets back to full guard.
Monk advances to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Odenkirk keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Monk with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Odenkirk is trying to control but Monk manages to pass to mount!
Monk looking to control and managing it successfully.

Monk is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Odenkirk has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Odenkirk!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Odenkirk looking to sit in guard and control but Monk gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Odenkirk keeping moving, preventing Monk from controlling successfully.
Monk looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Monk trying to control but Odenkirk is working from the bottom.
Odenkirk controls Monk momentarily but Monk frees himself.
Monk stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Odenkirk swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Monk landing some decent shots from guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Monk with a flurry of punches that miss.
Odenkirk utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Monk advances to half guard.
Monk is looking to take a break and control but Odenkirk is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Monk winds up and cracks Odenkirk with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Odenkirk on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Odenkirk tries to get out of the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Monk is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Odenkirk!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcus Monk showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Monk fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Monk darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Monk maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Odenkirk could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Monk has cracked it and Odenkirk is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Monk!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:32 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Marcus Monk!
Marcus Monk bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
