PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Johonny Crash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dura Faeg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Johonny Crash!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dura Faeg!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Faeg shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Crash but Crash pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Faeg shoots in and drives through. Crash sprawls well.
Faeg shoots in looking for a takedown. Crash tries to sprawl out of it but Faeg keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Crash manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Johonny Crash has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dura Faeg.
Horrible takedown by Crash or perhaps it was just good defense by Faeg which made him look bad.
Crash tries to close the distance and clinch up but Faeg swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Crash fails in his attempt to clinch.
Crash throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Faeg on the side of the head.

Crash takes the fight into the clinch.
Crash prevents the takedown attempt.
Faeg has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Crash avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Crash wants to break free but Faeg has control.

A nice glancing elbow lands by Crash.
Faeg wants a takedown but no success here.
Crash is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Crash lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Crash lands a nice elbow.


It looks like Dura Faeg has been cut.

Crash jumps guard and drags Faeg to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Crash is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Faeg trying to control the position from guard on top but Crash is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Faeg is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Faeg trying to stand up but can't free himself from Crash's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Crash lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Faeg!
Faeg is in all sorts of trouble here.
Crash looking to control but Faeg is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Faeg tries to hold on but Crash postures up.
Faeg working to try and regain half guard.
Faeg tries to hold on but Crash pushes him away.
Faeg is desperately trying to improve his position but Crash has a good base and remains in mount.
Faeg is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Faeg is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Faeg tries to hold on but Crash postures up.
Faeg sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Faeg is doing well to control the position and prevent Crash from advancing to side control.
Crash wants to pass the guard but Faeg is defending well.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Faeg is pressing down on Crash's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Faeg throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Johonny Crash will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Dura Faeg's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!


Crash tries to clinch up.
Faeg throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Crash counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Faeg doesn't manage to clinch there - Crash circles away.
Faeg looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Faeg keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Nice takedown defense from Crash. No joy for Faeg on that attempt.
Faeg tries to close the distance and clinch up but Crash swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Crash throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Faeg shoots in for a double leg but Crash sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Crash darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Faeg lands a couple of sideways elbows.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Faeg wants to stand back up but Crash manages to pass into side control.
Faeg is pushing Crash's head away, looking to escape. Crash manages to hold on to the position though.
Faeg wants to control but Crash postures up.

Crash thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Crash wants to lay and pray for a moment but Faeg keeps working.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Faeg is trying to improve his position.

Faeg wants to control but Crash postures up.
Faeg is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Dura Faeg has got the better of the ground game so far.
Crash working away.
Faeg is looking to reverse the position.
Faeg pushes Crash away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Crash gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Crash lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Faeg down.

Faeg tries to buck Crash off but Crash is having none of it.
Faeg really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Crash. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Crash gets to mount! Faeg was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Faeg tries to improve his position but instead Crash has taken his back!
Crash doesn't have the hooks in and Faeg manages to turn into his guard.
Faeg trying to control the position from guard on top but Crash is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Crash kicks Faeg off and gets to his feet.

Faeg looking to score a takedown here. Crash is defending well but Faeg drives through and ends up in Crash's guard.
Faeg stops Crash from standing up.

Faeg stands up from Crash's guard - Faeg perhaps looking for a knockout.
Faeg shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Crash sprawls well. Crash wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Faeg gets slowly back to his feet.
Johonny Crash has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dura Faeg.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Crash closes this distance looking for a takedown but Faeg circles away.
A looping hook to the body misses from Faeg. Crash does a little dance to reset his feet.
Faeg stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Faeg wants it to stay on the feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Faeg shoots for a takedown but Crash saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Faeg shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Crash as he avoids it easily.
Nice takedown defense from Crash. No joy for Faeg on that attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Dura Faeg will probably get the nod - 10:9.

That's time! Crash's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Crash gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Crash drags the fight down to the ground.
Crash bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Faeg's guard.
Crash trying to stand up but can't free himself from Faeg's guard.
Faeg is adopting a defensive guard.
Faeg wants to hit a switch here but Crash passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Faeg there!
Faeg tries to hold on but Crash pushes him away.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Faeg can do anything to dispel that myth.

Crash looking to control but Faeg is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Crash avoids the attempt from Faeg to control.
Faeg throwing hammer fists to the chest of Crash. What's that going to do exactly?
Faeg is working to get back to half guard.
Faeg is squirming around, avoiding Crash's attempts to control the action.

Faeg really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Faeg is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Faeg manages to control the position for a moment.
Faeg is trying desperately to improve position.
Faeg tries to lock up and control but Crash gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Faeg keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Crash thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Crash moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Faeg has worked his arm free - good work by Faeg!
Faeg tries to bench press Crash off him but Crash keeps the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Faeg is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Crash trying to control the action but Faeg is working from the bottom.
Faeg is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Crash wants to control but Faeg is keeping him busy.
Faeg is looking to reverse the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Dura Faeg.
I think Faeg has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
