PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Salvador Dali (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Naga Moriz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dali's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Don't Stop Believing. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Salvador Dali!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Naga Moriz!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Patrick Alders and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dali pushes Moriz up against the ropes in a clinch.
Dali looking to throw knees to the head but Moriz is blocking nicely.
Moriz takes a shot to the head.
Dali lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Dali lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Moriz wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Dali pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the ropes.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Moriz takes an elbow to the forehead.
Moriz is trying to force a seperation but Dali has the dominant position.
Dali trying to land knees to the body.
Dali is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Dali misses with a knee strike.
Dali lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Moriz backwards.
Moriz is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the ropes.
Dali using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Moriz has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Moriz blocks the elbow strike.
Dali is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Moriz is defending well for now.
Dali pushes Moriz back against the ropes and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Moriz is trying to break the clinch but Dali is controlling him.

Dali pushes off an throws an elbow but Moriz leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the ropes.

Dali's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Dali has a takedown stuffed.

Dali throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Moriz was covering up waiting for the punch and Dali finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Moriz is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Dali trying to control but Moriz is working from the bottom.

Dali stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Moriz swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Dali throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Moriz escapes and throws Dali's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Dali is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Moriz's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Dali is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Moriz's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Moriz's back!
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Moriz trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dali is trying to control but Moriz is trying to escape here - he's now mounted.
Dali lands a heavy elbow.
BOOM! Dali connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Dali lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Salvador Dali dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Salvador Dali seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Moriz stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Moriz wants it to stay on the feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Dali shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Moriz throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Dali misses with a jab, cross combination.
Moriz throws a series of punches but Dali avoids them all with ease.
Dali lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Dali.

Moriz scores with a one two! Dali had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Dali swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Moriz.

Dali throws a knee to the head but misses.
Dali's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Dali has clasped his hands together around Moriz's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Moriz is pushing Dali's head away, looking to escape. Dali manages to hold on to the position though.
Moriz tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Dali wants to control but Moriz is keeping him busy.

Dali throws a strike aimed at the side of Moriz's head but Moriz avoids it well.

Dali working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Dali swings around for an armbar but Moriz sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Dali's guard.
Naga Moriz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Dali is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Moriz defends well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Dali isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Moriz stacks Dali on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Moriz!
Dali tries to bench press Moriz off him but Moriz keeps the position.
Dali manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Moriz tries to get to full guard but Dali has control of the leg.
Dali thows a huge punch but Moriz dodges it nicely.
Moriz moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Dali slips nicely into half guard.
Dali wants to lay and pray for a moment but Moriz keeps working.
Moriz on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Dali wants to pass to mount but Moriz is defending the position.
Dali thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Moriz is staying active underneath Dali, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Dali not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Dali looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Moriz with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Moriz tries to roll over but Dali keeps him under control.
Moriz looks like he's trying to stand up.
Moriz is trying to maintain the position but Dali is very close to passing his half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Dali, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
