Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Martin Prien (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gerlach Rutger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Prien comes to the cage accompanied by Yellow Submarine. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Martin Prien!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 11 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Gerlach Rutger!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Summer Carpenter and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Prien misses with a head kick.
Prien misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rutger.
Prien moves to clinch but Rutger breaks away

and Rutger decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Prien's guard.

Prien has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rutger can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Prien escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rutger gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Prien working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rutger doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rutger manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Rutger wants to control from the top but Prien keeps moving.
Prien throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Rutger must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Rutger is working Prien over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Rutger might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Prien kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Prien postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Rutger is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Prien, into his guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Prien isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Rutger stacks Prien on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Rutger!

Prien tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Rutger presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

A close round but Gerlach Rutger will probably get the nod.

Prien is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Rutger keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Prien tries to clinch up but Rutger circles away and keeps his distance.
Rutger uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Prien.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Prien throws a shot from downtown. Rutger moves away and avoids it.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Rutger wants to lay and pray for a moment but Prien keeps working.
Prien might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Prien is trying to improve his position.

Gerlach Rutger comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Rutger has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Gerlach Rutger decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
