Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dimitri Kasavanov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wai Man Li (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dimitri Kasavanov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Wai Man Li!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Roosa Järviläinen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kasavanov fails in his attempt to clinch.
Kasavanov throws a right and a left that Li avoids nicely.
Kasavanov misses with a takedown attempt - Li sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Kasavanov has taken the fight to the clinch.

Kasavanov drags the fight down to the ground.
Li slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Kasavanov on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kasavanov tries to get out of the position.

Li is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Kasavanov is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Kasavanov has escaped and now he's on top!

Li is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Li is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Kasavanov wants to control from the top but Li keeps moving.
Li has Kasavanov pulled in close to control his posture.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Kasavanov moves into the clinch.
Kasavanov lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Kasavanov lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Li is trying to stall.
Li on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Kasavanov as Li tries to tie him up.

Kasavanov escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Li has closed the distance and engaged Kasavanov in a clinch.
Kasavanov lands a right hand.
A left hand lands to the body for Kasavanov.
Kasavanov goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Li tries a body shot but Kasavanov blocks it.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Kasavanov is looking for a sweep. Li is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Li works his way into side control.
Kasavanov tries to bench press Li off him but Li keeps the position.
Kasavanov isn't going anywhere.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kasavanov wants to control but Li postures up.
Kasavanov misses with a strike from the bottom.

Kasavanov manages to get back to half guard.
Kasavanov regains full guard. Nicely done.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Li stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kasavanov swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Li must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Li wants to control from the top but Kasavanov keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dimitri Kasavanov dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kasavanov misses with a looping left.
Kasavanov tries to close the distance and clinch up but Li swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Li lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Kasavanov wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Kasavanov clinches up with Li and pushes him back against the cage.
Li misses with some punches.
Li tries to stall but Kasavanov uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Kasavanov breaks from the clinch.
Li misses with a body shot.
Kasavanov walks into a jab.
Kasavanov is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Dimitri Kasavanov is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kasavanov throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Kasavanov works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Kasavanov wants to pass the guard but Li is keeping the position.
Kasavanov trying to control the position from guard on top but Li is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kasavanov is stalling in the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kasavanov looking to sit in guard and control but Li gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kasavanov is on top in guard.
Li wants to stand but Kasavanov is controlling the position.
Li looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kasavanov is one step ahead there.
Li really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kasavanov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Li tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Li is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kasavanov is controlling him.
Kasavanov pushes down on Li's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Kasavanov throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Kasavanov controlling the action here.
Li is not content to let Kasavanov control the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Kasavanov has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Kasavanov looking for a triangle here. Li is fighting it but it looks tight! Kasavanov pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Li is tapping out - this one is all over!
