The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ismail shoots in looking for a takedown. Nobriga tries to sprawl out of it but Ismail keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nobriga manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Nobriga finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Nobriga scores with a jab to the head.
Ismail moves away from the strike by Nobriga.
Nobriga cracks Ismail with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Ismail has his takedown stuffed
and Nobriga counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Nobriga connects with a right hand. Ismail shakes it off.
Ismail is rocked!
Nobriga looks to land a body kick but Ismail moved away.
Nobriga tries to work over Ismail's front leg with a kick but Ismail checks it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nobriga throws the left hand but Ismail avoids the punch easily.
Ismail throws a looping overhand right but Nobriga ducks down to avoid it.
Nobriga is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Nobriga looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Nobriga punishes Ismail's body with a nice straight punch.
Nobriga misses with a hook. Ismail ducked under it nicely.
Nobriga cracks Ismail with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Ismail blocks a head kick by Nobriga.
Nobriga is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Nobriga scores with a punch to the head.
Ismail is still on wobbly legs! Can Nobriga finish him?
Ismail tries for a takedown but Nobriga circles away easily
and Nobriga counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Max Nobriga has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wallid Ismail.
Nobriga throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Ismail's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Nobriga dives in looking to finish as Ismail flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Nobriga's strikes! Nobriga is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Ismail's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Ismail was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
