Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Seifer Shinra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenichi Shirahama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shinra comes to the cage accompanied by Final Fantasy 7 Boss Battle Theme. Shirahama has chosen Fade To Black as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Seifer Shinra!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kenichi Shirahama!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Leandro Rodrigues and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shirahama fails in his attempt to clinch.
Shinra fails with a takedown attempt.
Shinra gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Shirahama counters with a stiff right hand.
Shinra checks a low kick from Shirahama.

Shinra looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Shinra throws a big right hand that misses.
Shirahama wants to sweep here but Shinra controlling him for the moment.
Shirahama is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Shirahama pulls Shinra in close to his closed guard and prevents Shinra from doing any damage or advancing position.

Shirahama is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Shinra is aware though and is defending well.

Shinra avoids a strike by Shirahama and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Shirahama's guard! Fantastic escape!

Shinra has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Shirahama finds it's way round the side to connect with Shinra's head.

Shirahama goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Shinra takes a swing at Shirahama's ribcage but misses.
Shirahama misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Shinra.
Kenichi Shirahama seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Shirahama tests Shinra's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Shirahama is looking to clinch but Shinra is avoiding it.
Shinra shoots in but no luck this time.

Shirahama lands a high kick to the side of Shinra's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Shirahama dives into guard, looking to finish.


It looks like Seifer Shinra has been cut.

Shirahama throws an elbow that misses. Shinra uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Shirahama's guard. Nice move by Shinra!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Shirahama is on top in guard.
Shirahama content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Shirahama wants to pass the guard but Shinra is keeping the position.
Shinra is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Shinra seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shinra is looking to advance position but Shirahama won't allow it.
Shirahama is pressing down on Shinra's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Shinra postures up in Shirahama's guard and throws a big left but Shirahama blocks it.
Shinra working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Shirahama's head.

Shirahama working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shinra doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Shinra manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Shinra got a little sloppy there for a moment and Shirahama has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Shinra has managed to get both his arms back between Shirahama's legs - danger averted.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Shirahama stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shinra swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kenichi Shirahama is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Shirahama is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Well Shirahama has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
