Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Casey Silk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Thomas Kirshaw!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Winston Howard and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kirshaw fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.


It looks like Casey Silk has been cut.
Sloppy strikes from Silk. Those never looked like landing.
Thomas Kirshaw seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd cheers as Kirshaw lands an impressive looking overhand right. Silk doesn't seem phased though.
Kirshaw misses with a straight right.
Kirshaw scores with a jab to the head.
Silk takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Kirshaw works Silk's body with a nice hook.
Silk misses the shot to the body.
Kirshaw throws a lazy right hand but Silk sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Silk looks to land a right hand but Kirshaw moved out of range.
Silk moves out of range as Kirshaw throws a body kick.

Silk throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kirshaw.
Kirshaw dodges the punch combination from Silk.
Silk throws a hook but Kirshaw avoids it easily.

and Kirshaw connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

No joy there for Silk, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kirshaw misses with a low kick.
Kirshaw avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Silk tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kirshaw was well out of range. Poor timing from Silk.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Silk trying to control the position from guard on top but Kirshaw is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Silk throws an elbow that misses. Kirshaw uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Silk's guard. Nice move by Kirshaw!
Silk is looking to sweep but instead, Kirshaw has passed into half guard.
Kirshaw is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Silk actively working from the bottom here.
Kirshaw wants to stand up but Silk is controlling the position.

Kirshaw gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Silk throws a nice looking combination but Kirshaw bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Kirshaw throws a low kick but Silk avoids it.
Kirshaw misses with an uppercut.

Kirshaw changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Silk moves out of range of the strikes.
Silk throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kirshaw sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Kirshaw misses with a low kick.
Kirshaw lands a nice hook to Silk's body. Silk takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Kirshaw tests Silk's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Nice defenses there by Kirshaw.
Kirshaw keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Silk.
Kirshaw has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Kirshaw thuds a left hand into Silk's body.
Kirshaw turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kirshaw lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Silk throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kirshaw was covering up waiting for the punch and Silk finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Kirshaw is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Kirshaw looks to land a right hand but Silk moved out of range.
A left lands for Kirshaw.
Silk avoids a punch combination nicely.
Silk fails with a takedown attempt.
Kirshaw lands a lovely overhand right.
Silk tries to land a leg kick but Kirshaw saw it coming and moves away.
The fighters circle momentarily. Kirshaw darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Silk is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Kirshaw's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
Silk bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Silk looking to score a takedown here. Kirshaw is defending well but Silk drives through and ends up in Kirshaw's guard.

Kirshaw is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Silk is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kirshaw wants to sweep here but Silk controlling him for the moment.
Silk distracts Kirshaw with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Silk accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Kirshaw lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Casey Silk is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Kirshaw cracks Silk with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kirshaw regains half guard, as Silk was trying to land strikes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Silk uses his free foot to push down on Kirshaw's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Kirshaw.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Silk takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Kirshaw tries to land a leg kick but Silk saw it coming and moves away.
Kirshaw tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Silk was well out of range. Poor timing from Kirshaw.
Kirshaw lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
That kick from Kirshaw tenderised Silk's leg. Silk is trying to keep his angry face on.
Kirshaw tries to score with a low kick but Silk moves his leg out of the way.
Kirshaw is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Kirshaw connects with the punch.
Kirshaw attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Nice sprawl there from Kirshaw as Silk shoots in.
A punch lands to the side of Silk 's head but he takes it in his stride.

and Silk counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Kirshaw thinking.

Silk takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Silk shoots for a double leg takedown but Kirshaw sprawls well. He's pushed Silk's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Silk throws out a loose jab but Kirshaw uses good head movement to avoid it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kirshaw scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Silk doesn't seem bothered though.
Silk takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Silk fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Casey Silk. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Silk takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Silk. Kirshaw does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kirshaw fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Silk.
Silk on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Silk misses with a straight right.
Silk uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kirshaw.
Kirshaw lands with a kick to the temple. Silk shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
The fighters circling - Kirshaw throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Thomas Kirshaw is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Silk keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kirshaw goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Kirshaw avoids the head kick by Silk.
Kirshaw scores with a sloppy right hand. Silk should have avoided that one.
Kirshaw uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Silk has time to react.
Kirshaw throws a combination that misses
and Silk counters with a good low kick that Kirshaw was not able to check.
Kirshaw works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Silk looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Silk throws a low kick but Kirshaw avoids it.
Kirshaw throws a body punch but Silk moves out of range.
A lazy left from Kirshaw finds it's target.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Silk is defended easily by Kirshaw.
Silk walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Kirshaw ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Silk moves away.
Kirshaw throws an overhand right that lands on Silk's shoulder, as Silk tries to avoid the shot.
Kirshaw lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Silk at a distance.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Silk crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Kirshaw - the referee stops the clock and Silk gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Kirshaw. Silk manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Silk misses with a left hand
and Kirshaw counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Kirshaw connects with an inside leg kick.
Silk scores with a shot to the body.
Kirshaw leaves Silk with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Silk staying out of range there.
Silk takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

And that's the end of the fight!
Thomas Kirshaw comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Kirshaw has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
