PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shavo Odin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Devin Styles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Styles comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Ludacris - Get Back kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Devin Styles will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Devin Styles!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Joseph Jones and John Kavanagh.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Odin jabbing away but nothing is landing.
A slow jab from Odin misses its intended target.
Odin swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Styles misses with a two punch combination.

Odin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Styles is looking for a sweep.
Odin trying to control the action but Styles is working from the bottom.
Odin has control of an arm but Styles manages to advance to Odin's back!

Odin is having to fend off submission attempts from Styles, who is looking to sink in the choke. Styles doesn't have the hooks in though and Odin manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.
Styles is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Odin chips away with some ground and pound.
Odin trying to control the position from guard on top but Styles is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Odin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Styles throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

Odin postures up and lands a big shot to Styles's brow.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Styles is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Odin is controlling him.

Odin is looking to work some ground and pound but Styles has wrist control.
Styles tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Odin throws a big right hand that misses.
Styles wants to sweep but no luck.
Odin content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Styles keeping moving, preventing Odin from controlling successfully.
Odin works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Odin works his way into side control.
Odin scores with a couple of short elbows.
Styles is not content to let Odin control the position.
Styles is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Styles makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Styles.
Styles lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Odin!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Odin can't escape the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Styles trying to control but Odin is having none of it.
Odin is looking to get to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shavo Odin dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Odin tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Styles was well out of range. Poor timing from Odin.
Styles lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Styles throws out a leg kick but Odin moves out of range and Styles only half commits.
Odin swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Styles drops Odin with a beautiful combination! Odin stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Styles is looking for the KO!

It looks like Shavo Odin has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nice shot lands for Styles.
A leg kick checked by Odin.
Odin doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Styles cracks Odin with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Styles has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Odin to stand back up!
Styles swinging wildly here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Odin tries to clinch but Styles is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Styles misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Styles lands a big right hook! Odin looks hurt but is still standing! Styles lands a left jab and another right hook! This time Odin falls down and Styles dives in with a huge hammer fist! Odin's eyes roll back! The referee calls for the bell and Styles runs up the cage to celebrate with his fans!
