Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dave Ming Chang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yang Tao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tao comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Carl Douglas - Kung Fu Fighting kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Dave Ming Chang had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dave Ming Chang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Yang Tao!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Skip Squint and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ming Chang misses with a looping left.
Tao keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Nice defenses there by Ming Chang.
Tao with a body punch. A glancing blow.
A looping hook to the body misses from Ming Chang. Tao does a little dance to reset his feet.
Tao misses the shot to the body.
Tao ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ming Chang moves away.

Ming Chang changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tao looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Ming Chang tries for a kimura but Tao is defending well.
Tao is looking for a sweep.

Ming Chang swings around for an armbar but Tao sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Ming Chang's guard.

Tao wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ming Chang keeps working.

Ming Chang has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tao can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Ming Chang manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Tao manages to get himself to full guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Tao is on top in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Tao lands a front kick.
Tao slips a jab from Ming Chang.
Tao missing with a left hand there. Ming Chang was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Tao throws a leg kick but Ming Chang moved away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tao scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Ming Chang closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Tao regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Ming Chang.

Tao manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Ming Chang tries to reverse the position but Tao maintains control.
Ming Chang wants to hold on but Tao pushes him away.
Ming Chang is wriggling around trying to escape.
Ming Chang sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Dave Ming Chang overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Ming Chang misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Ming Chang is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Tao seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Tao throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Ming Chang looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Tao seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Ming Chang is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Ming Chang is looking to control Tao's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ming Chang avoid being mounted?

Ming Chang is looking to improve his position but Tao isn't that keen on the idea.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dave Ming Chang will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Ming Chang misses with a body shot.
Tao throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ming Chang stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Tao connects with a leg kick. Ming Chang looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Tao slips a jab and a cross from Ming Chang.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Tao.
Ming Chang shoots in for a takedown but Tao shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Tao is looking to chop away at Ming Chang's legs.
Ming Chang takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Tao tries to sprawl but Ming Chang drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Tao avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Ming Chang.
Tao controlling the position for now.
Ming Chang is keen to just control but Tao is a slippery customer.
Tao is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ming Chang's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ming Chang's back!

Tao seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ming Chang does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Ming Chang is looking for a sweep. Tao is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Ming Chang is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Yang Tao has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Tao throws a half hearted mid kick.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dave Ming Chang showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ming Chang, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
