PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rafael Van Der Hoef (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Fredriksson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that David Fredriksson was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rafael Van Der Hoef!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, David Fredriksson!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Aafke Stam and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Der Hoef lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Van Der Hoef tries to close the distance and clinch up but Fredriksson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Van Der Hoef is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Van Der Hoef looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

and Fredriksson counters with a takedown into side control.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Fredriksson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Van Der Hoef, who protects the arm well.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Fredriksson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Van Der Hoef is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Van Der Hoef gets back to half guard.
Van Der Hoef is looking to control Fredriksson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Van Der Hoef avoid being mounted?

Van Der Hoef escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fredriksson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Fredriksson drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Van Der Hoef dives on top into guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Fredriksson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That was a close round but I would say that Rafael Van Der Hoef will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Van Der Hoef drops Fredriksson with a right and a left! Van Der Hoef comes rushing in but Fredriksson regains his composure and manages to keep Van Der Hoef in guard.


It looks like David Fredriksson has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Van Der Hoef won't allow Fredriksson to sweep him here.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Fredriksson has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Fredriksson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Van Der Hoef tries to avoid it but Fredriksson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Van Der Hoef to the ground. Van Der Hoef escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Van Der Hoef jabs Fredriksson to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Fredriksson is breathing heavily.
Fredriksson shoots in and drives through. Van Der Hoef sprawls well.

Oooh a lovely combination from Van Der Hoef sends Fredriksson down but not out. Van Der Hoef dives into side control looking to finish.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Van Der Hoef works to advance to full mount. Fredriksson defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Van Der Hoef is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Fredriksson to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Fredriksson shrugs it off.
Van Der Hoef takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Van Der Hoef is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Fredriksson is surviving well by controlling Van Der Hoef's body position as best he can.
Van Der Hoef tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Van Der Hoef lands a high kick to the side of Fredriksson's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Van Der Hoef dives into guard, looking to finish.

Fredriksson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Van Der Hoef manages to get himself to full guard.
Van Der Hoef is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Fredriksson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Van Der Hoef manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Fredriksson has Van Der Hoef in his guard.
Fredriksson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Van Der Hoef is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Fredriksson can do to turn this around?

Van Der Hoef throws a head kick but Fredriksson moves out of range.
Fredriksson takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Rafael Van Der Hoef is winning the standup battle so far.
Fredriksson drops his hands momentarily and Van Der Hoef takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Fredriksson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Van Der Hoef is fending him off so far but Fredriksson persists. Nope, Van Der Hoef circles away and we're back to standing.
Fredriksson shoots in for a double leg but Van Der Hoef sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Fredriksson is still on wobbly legs! Can Van Der Hoef finish him?
Fredriksson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Van Der Hoef cracks Fredriksson with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Fredriksson swats away the attempt to clinch by Van Der Hoef.
Fredriksson seems to have recovered his senses.
Van Der Hoef goes for a small jab and connects. Now Van Der Hoef goes in closer pressing the issue. Left hook, right straight! Fredriksson stumbles back but Van Der Hoef runs in with a huge uppercut knocking Fredriksson to the ground! What a finish! You have to wonder if Fredriksson will ever be the same after a knockout like that.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:46 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Rafael Van Der Hoef!
