Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Emerson Castillo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John McGuirk!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Wesley Smith and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Castillo closes the distance but McGuirk moves to the side

and McGuirk counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by McGuirk.
A frustrated look appears on McGuirk's face as he tries to break the clinch.

McGuirk pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Castillo moves to clinch but McGuirk breaks away

and McGuirk counters by clinching up.
McGuirk wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Castillo has him pressed against the cage.
Castillo comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
McGuirk blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
McGuirk tries for a takedown but Castillo manages to get underhooks.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Castillo.
Castillo tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and McGuirk avoids it.
McGuirk takes an elbow to the forehead.
A frustrated look appears on McGuirk's face as he tries to break the clinch.
McGuirk jumps guard but Castillo turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
McGuirk goes for a takedown in the clinch but Castillo prevents it.
Emerson Castillo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John McGuirk.

McGuirk's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

McGuirk displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Castillo.

McGuirk wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Castillo has him pressed against the cage.
Castillo lands an elbow inside that McGuirk shrugs off.

Castillo lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

McGuirk manages to break the clinch.

and McGuirk counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and McGuirk holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Castillo avoids the elbow strike from McGuirk, against the cage.

McGuirk lands a knee to the body.
McGuirk has had enough of the clinch but Castillo keeps him there for the moment.
McGuirk has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Castillo is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Castillo keeps the fight in the clinch, despite McGuirk's efforts to push away.
McGuirk wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

and McGuirk counters with a nice kick to the body.

McGuirk closes the distance and clinches.

McGuirk is trying to force a seperation but Castillo has the dominant position.
Castillo tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

McGuirk breaks the clinch.
McGuirk misses with a body kick.
McGuirk throws a leg kick that misses.
Castillo looks to clinch
and McGuirk counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Castillo shoots in for a double leg but McGuirk sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Castillo gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
McGuirk slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

McGuirk stands up over Castillo, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

McGuirk slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Castillo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McGuirk on the ground.

McGuirk stands up and waves to Castillo to follow him.
Emerson Castillo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Castillo is breathing heavily.
No joy there for McGuirk, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
A punch combination from McGuirk misses.
McGuirk throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Castillo looks to clinch
and McGuirk counters with a three punch combo that has Castillo backing up. Castillo nods at McGuirk to acknowledge the strikes.
McGuirk misses with a double jab.
McGuirk throws a sloppy head kick and Castillo moves out of range easily.
Castillo wants to clinch
and McGuirk makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John McGuirk dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Emerson Castillo's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
