PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kirill Petrov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Todd Parker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Petrov comes to the cage accompanied by Iron Man. Parker is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Night Ranger - Sister Christian. Kirill Petrov has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Petrov gets the takedown into side control.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Petrov connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Parker some visible discomfort.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Parker wants to control but Petrov postures up.

Petrov is looking to take a break and control but Parker is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Petrov throws some wild stikes that Parker manages to avoid easily.
Parker is in all sorts of trouble here.
Parker sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Petrov is stalling here. Parker is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Petrov seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Parker has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Petrov can't do much from the bottom here.

Parker tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Parker has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Petrov gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Parker is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Petrov is looking to control Parker's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Petrov avoid being mounted?

A left and a right from Parker both land. Nice combination.

Parker takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Petrov throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Parker was covering up waiting for the punch and Petrov finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Parker controls Petrov momentarily but Petrov frees himself.
Petrov won't allow Parker to sweep him here.
Petrov postures up in Parker's guard and throws a big left but Parker blocks it.
Petrov makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Parker is trying to keep Petrov in close.
Petrov throws a big elbow that misses.

Petrov in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Parker avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Parker is on top in guard.
Parker throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Petrov looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Petrov is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Parker is aware though and is defending well.

Petrov is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Parker pulls his head out easily.

Petrov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Parker scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Parker seems to be working for a kimura but Petrov defends the submission attempt.
Kirill Petrov overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Parker not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Parker is pressing down on Petrov's thigh, looking to free his foot. Petrov is holding on for now.
Petrov makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Petrov.

Petrov looking for a triangle here. Parker is fighting it but it looks tight! Petrov pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Parker is tapping out - this one is all over!
