Def comes to the cage accompanied by Mathematics. Kotzagiannis has chosen Motorhead - Jack The Ripper as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mos Def!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Manolis Kotzagiannis!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Ryoma Takatsuka and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Def bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Def misses with a head kick.

Def takes the fight into the clinch.

Def breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Def fails with an attempt to clinch.

Kotzagiannis shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Def manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Kotzagiannis is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Def's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Kotzagiannis stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Def lands a head kick!
Def throws a sloppy head kick and Kotzagiannis moves out of range easily.
Kotzagiannis swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Def breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Def tries a head kick but it misses.
Kotzagiannis tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Def swivels and escapes.
Kotzagiannis shoots in for a takedown but Def shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Mos Def has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Manolis Kotzagiannis.

Kotzagiannis scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Def is looking for a way out.

Kotzagiannis has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Def has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Def is trying to get back to his feet but Kotzagiannis has full control of the position and if anything, Def has just worked his way into a worse spot.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Def doesn't manage to clinch there - Kotzagiannis circles away.

Kotzagiannis shoots in looking for a takedown. Def tries to sprawl out of it but Kotzagiannis keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Def manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Kotzagiannis swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kotzagiannis wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Def has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Kotzagiannis's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Kotzagiannis is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Def!
