The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pereira is looking to clinch.
Pereira scores with a hook to the body. Gattuso takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Pereira connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Pereira misses with a low kick.
Gattuso takes a swing at Pereira's ribcage but misses.
Pereira ducks under a wild hook from Gattuso.
Pereira misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A lazy left from Pereira finds it's target.
Pereira throws a chopping leg kick but Gattuso manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Pereira misses with a shot to the body
and Gattuso connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Gattuso fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Pereira manages to avoid it.
Pereira tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gattuso paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Gattuso shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Pereira defends it nicely.
Gattuso takes a swing at Pereira's ribcage but misses.

Gattuso misses with a kick to the body.
Pereira pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Gattuso avoids the body shot from Pereira.
Gennaro Gattuso seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gattuso throws the left hand but Pereira avoids the punch easily.
Gattuso dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
A nice leg kick lands there from Pereira.
Gattuso lands a slapping body shot.
Gattuso throws a jab but it's blocked by Pereira.
Pereira avoids the body shot from Gattuso.
A clash of legs there as Gattuso blocks the low kick.
Pereira throws a right and a left that Gattuso avoids nicely.

Gattuso moves into range and connects with a jab.

Gattuso fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Pereira to the ground. Gattuso is now in Pereira's guard.
Gattuso is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pereira trying to keep a closed guard but Gattuso is proving a slippery customer.
Pereira can't keep his opponent in guard - Gattuso advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Gattuso is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Gattuso takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Gattuso looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Still in half guard, Gattuso seems content to control.

Gattuso controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Pereira knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gattuso on the ground.

Gattuso seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Pereira is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
