PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Luke Warm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Conner Magavin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Warm comes to the cage accompanied by Walk like an Egyptian. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Luke Warm!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Conner Magavin!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Jonathan Paton and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Magavin stuffs the takedown attempt from Warm. Warm gets slowly back to his feet.
Magavin lands with a hook. Warm tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.


It looks like Luke Warm has been cut.
Magavin throws a shot to the body.
Warm really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Magavin shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Warm defends it nicely.
Magavin tests Warm's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Warm rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Magavin moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Magavin throws a right and a left that both miss.
Magavin tries to work over Warm's front leg with a kick but Warm checks it.

A looping hook to the body misses from Magavin. Warm does a little dance to reset his feet.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Warm throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Warm has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Warm thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Warm wants to control the pace but Magavin is squirming around nicely.
Magavin tries to reverse the position but Warm maintains control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Magavin tries to lock up and control but Warm gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Warm is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Magavin has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Magavin!

Warm has his foot on Magavin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Magavin works his way back into a safe position though.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Warm will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Warm is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Magavin wants to take the fight to the mat but Warm manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Luke Warm has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Conner Magavin.

Warm has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Magavin is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Magavin drops down looking for an ankle pick but Warm pulls his leg out and moves away.

That was a close round but I would say that Luke Warm will probably get the nod.

Warm throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Magavin tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Warm is in Magavin's guard.

Magavin is looking to stand up but Warm isn't so interested in that idea.

Magavin keeping moving, preventing Warm from controlling successfully.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Magavin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Warm fails to land with a series of punches.
Luke Warm is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Magavin counters with an inside leg kick.
Warm leaves Magavin with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
A jab from Warm does it's job there.

Warm changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Magavin looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Warm misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Warm controls the position.
Warm sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Magavin is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Warm is looking to take a break and control but Magavin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Magavin gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Warm misses with a head shot. Magavin uses the momentum to regain guard.
Warm throwing strikes but missing.

Magavin wriggles free and stands up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Magavin closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Magavin shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Warm but Warm pushes him off and we're back to square one.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Magavin throws a shot to the body.
Warm throws a hook but Magavin blocks it.
Conner Magavin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Warm tries to bum rush Magavin with a series of wild strikes but Magavin uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Warm bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Magavin's head backwards.
Magavin circles away from the clinch attempt.

and Warm counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Magavin!

Warm thows a huge punch but Magavin dodges it nicely.

Magavin is controlling Warm's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Warm wants to free his trapped foot but Magavin is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Warm, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Luke Warm rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
