Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tetsuda Hayami!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Hirohito Nitta and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dwyer shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hayami but Hayami pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Hayami slips a jab and a cross from Dwyer.
Dwyer misses with a wild combination.
Hayami connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Dwyer's hands.

Dwyer shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Dwyer showed some decent athleticism there.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hayami can do anything to dispel that myth.
Dwyer missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Dwyer sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Hayami defending well though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dwyer trying to control the action but Hayami is working from the bottom.
Dwyer looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hayami with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Dwyer scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Dwyer throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dwyer wants to take a breather but Hayami is having none of it.
Hayami is looking to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dwyer sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Hayami defending well though.
Hayami really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dwyer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Dwyer has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Hayami defend it? Dwyer steps over the head and cranks it - Hayami is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Dwyer!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Malcom Dwyer!
