PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Garrett Hudson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hoso Alvy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hoso Alvy!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Damien Edna and Donatello Bradman.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvy looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Alvy doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Hudson counters with a one-two to the body.
Hudson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Garrett Hudson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hoso Alvy.

Alvy has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Hudson finds it's way round the side to connect with Alvy's head.
Hoso Alvy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Alvy needs to keep his hands up - Hudson had a free shot at his head there.

and Hudson counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Alvy fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Hudson to the ground. Alvy is now in Hudson's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hudson is looking to stand up but Alvy isn't so interested in that idea.
Hudson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Alvy on the ground.

Hudson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Alvy thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Alvy drops back looking for a leg! Hudson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hudson manages to kick Alvy off! Alvy jumps back into Hudson's guard.

Alvy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hudson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Alvy drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Alvy jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Alvy won't allow Hudson to get back to his feet.

Hudson wants to stand and escape but Alvy is having none of it.
Alvy pushes down on Hudson's leg and manages to get into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Hudson kicks off Alvy and gets to his feet.
Hudson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Alvy.

Alvy shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hudson defends it nicely.
Hudson stalks Alvy and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Alvy's face. Alvy staggers backwards, shaken.
Hudson connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Alvy's hands.
Sloppy strikes from Hudson. Those never looked like landing.
Hudson sizes up Alvy with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Alvy is defended easily by Hudson.

Alvy gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Hudson.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hudson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hudson wants it to stay on the feet.
Hudson lands a nice hook to Alvy's body. Alvy takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Hudson scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Hudson bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Alvy's head backwards.
Hudson moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Garrett Hudson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Alvy is defended easily by Hudson.

Alvy shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Hudson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Hudson throws a one two combo.
No luck for Alvy with that takedown attempt.
Hudson lands a nice hook to Alvy's body. Alvy takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Hudson lands a left and a right that send Alvy crashing to the mat, dazed. Hudson thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Alvy is rocked!
Alvy tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hudson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Alvy somewhat.
Alvy is still on wobbly legs! Can Hudson finish him?
Nice shot lands for Hudson.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Alvy walks straight into a right hand from Hudson - that's dropped him! Hudson jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Alvy from any more punishment! Alvy complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Garrett Hudson!
After the fight, Garrett Hudson was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
