PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hayao Miyazaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Niko Sirkiä (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sirkiä is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Thergothon - Elemental. The key to victory for Hayao Miyazaki has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hayao Miyazaki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Niko Sirkiä!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Paulsen Ambrosius and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miyazaki steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Sirkiä.
Niko Sirkiä seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Miyazaki jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Sirkiä checks a low kick from Miyazaki.

Sirkiä gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Sirkiä is trying to trip Miyazaki. He has hold of a leg but Miyazaki is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Sirkiä persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Sirkiä tries to free his leg and advance position but Miyazaki is retaining full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Miyazaki is on top in guard.

Sirkiä is looking to take this one to the mat.

Miyazaki lands on the inside with an uppercut.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Sirkiä.
Miyazaki wants to get back to striking at distance but Sirkiä won't allow it.
Miyazaki lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Sirkiä backwards.
Miyazaki tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Sirkiä's elbow.
Miyazaki cracks Sirkiä with a nice body shot.
Sirkiä prevents Miyazaki from breaking the clinch.

Sirkiä has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Miyazaki regains guard immediately.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sirkiä is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Miyazaki has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Sirkiä fails in his attempt to clinch.
Sirkiä on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Miyazaki takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Miyazaki missing with a left hand there. Sirkiä was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Sirkiä tries to clinch but Miyazaki is having none of it.
Miyazaki throws an overhand right that lands on Sirkiä's shoulder, as Sirkiä tries to avoid the shot.

Sirkiä closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Miyazaki is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Sirkiä is working Miyazaki over with some ground and pound from side control.
Miyazaki tries to improve position but can't.

Sirkiä lands a nice shot to the head.
A nice elbow there by Sirkiä.
Miyazaki tries to lock up and control but Sirkiä gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
BOOM! Sirkiä connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Oh Miyazaki is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Sirkiä is landing with some decent strikes but Miyazaki is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Sirkiä postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Miyazaki badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Sirkiä around the waist but Sirkiä pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Sirkiä is the winner by TKO! Sirkiä jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Niko Sirkiä!
