PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chicken Beef (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Fatts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fatts has chosen Hit Em Up by Tupac as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chicken Beef!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jay Fatts!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Fatts.
Fatts throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Beef jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Fatts misses with a hook. Beef ducked under it nicely.
Fatts misses with an uppercut. Beef saw that one coming.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Beef tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Fatts.
Beef misses with a punch on the inside.
Fatts is trying to drag Beef to the mat but Beef just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Fatts is working for takedown but Beef is calmly controlling the position for now.
Chicken Beef has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jay Fatts.

Fatts blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Fatts is trying to push Beef away but Beef has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Beef breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Fatts on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Nice takedown defense from Beef. No joy for Fatts on that attempt.

Fatts throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Beef's waist but Beef gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Fatts off to one side.

Fatts throws a body punch but Beef moves out of range.

Fatts throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Beef sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Jay Fatts seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Beef lands a jab-cross combination.
Beef lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
A nice leg kick lands there from Beef.
Fatts throws out a loose jab but Beef uses good head movement to avoid it.
Beef throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Fatts stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Fatts jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Beef uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Fatts.
Fatts fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Beef has taken the fight to the clinch.
Fatts takes an elbow to the temple.

Fatts is trying to force a seperation but Beef has the dominant position.
Beef lands a left hand that snaps the head of Fatts backwards.
Fatts has had enough of the clinch but Beef keeps him there for the moment.
Fatts misses with a short punch on the inside.
Come on Fatts - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Beef lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Fatts throws a head punch that misses.
Fatts tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Beef.


Fatts is rocked!
Beef doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Beef gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Fatts.

Fatts pulls guard effortlessly.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Beef passes Fatts's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Fatts avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Beef.

Beef stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Fatts to get to his feet.
A big left from Fatts misses.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Fatts tries to keep at a distance but Beef has taken the fight into the clinch.
Beef scores with a shoulder strike.
Beef keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Fatts's efforts to push away.
Beef using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Fatts has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Beef lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Fatts wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Beef has him pressed against the cage.
Beef scores with a shoulder strike.
Fatts just leaning against Beef, taking a breather.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chicken Beef dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Beef misses with a looping right.
Fatts looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Beef wants to clinch.
Beef is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Fatts shoots in and bounces Beef off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Beef has control of Fatts's left arm, preventing Fatts from doing any damage.
Fatts wants to pass the guard but Beef is keeping the position.

Beef uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Beef cracks the inside of Fatts's front leg.
Fatts takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Chicken Beef is winning the standup battle so far.
No joy there for Beef, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Beef moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Beef slips under a jab.
Fatts ducks under a wild hook from Beef.
Beef tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Fatts manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Fatts throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
A low kick from Beef is predictable there
and Fatts counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Beef thinking.
Fatts cracks Beef with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Beef ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Fatts misses with a hook.
Fatts fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Fatts shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Fatts showed some decent athleticism there.
Beef is staying active underneath Fatts, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Beef controlling the position for now.

Fatts looking for a submission but Beef manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.
Beef preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Beef wants to stand up but Fatts is controlling him.

Beef wants to get back to his feet but Fatts is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Fatts prevents Beef from getting back to his feet.
Beef seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Fatts is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A close second round but Jay Fatts will probably get the nod - 10:9.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Fatts throws a nice looking combination but Beef bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Fatts needs to keep his hands up - Beef had a free shot at his head there.
Fatts shoots in looking for a takedown. Beef tries to sprawl out of it but Fatts keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Beef manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Fatts misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Beef bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Fatts's head backwards.
Fatts shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Chicken Beef has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jay Fatts.
Beef feints and then cracks Fatts's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Fatts down.

Fatts swings for the body but Beef moves out of range.
Fatts takes one to the side of the head.
Beef doesn't manage to clinch there - Fatts circles away.
Chicken Beef is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Fatts throws a predictable looking body shot
and Beef counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Beef throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Fatts.
Fatts misses with a wild combination.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Beef.
Fatts takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Beef closes the distance and clinches.
Fatts is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Fatts ducks under a wild hook from Beef.

Fatts looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Beef wants to control but Fatts is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Beef makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Beef.
Fatts in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Jay Fatts has got the better of the ground game so far.
Fatts postures up in Beef's guard and throws a big left but Beef blocks it.

Fatts slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Beef managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Fatts.
Beef struggling a bit here.
Beef is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Fatts asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Fatts scores with punches from side control.
Beef regains half guard, as Fatts was trying to land strikes.
Fatts is trying to control the action in half guard but Beef is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Fatts slips a nice elbow through Beef's hands, connecting with Beef's forehead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fatts seems to be looking for submissions.
Fatts has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Fatts stops Beef from getting back to his feet.
Fatts misses with a head shot. Beef uses the momentum to regain guard.
Fatts throws a big right hand that misses.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Chicken Beef.
I think Beef has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
