PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Harry Stamper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Prototype (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Harry Stamper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Patrick Prototype!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Winston Howard and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stamper clinches up against the cage.
Prototype has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Stamper pulls guard effortlessly.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Stamper wants to sweep but no luck.
Stamper is trying to hold Prototype in close to prevent damage but Prototype has managed to pass into half guard.
Stamper wants to control but Prototype is keeping busy.
Stamper knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Prototype on the ground.

Prototype is looking for a kimura but Stamper is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Prototype to get the leverage.
Stamper is controlling Prototype's trapped leg to prevent Prototype from advancing to side control.
Prototype with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stamper wants to get back to his feet.
Stamper on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Stamper tries to get out of the position.
Prototype takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Prototype looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Stamper has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Prototype is working away from the top position though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Prototype is trying to control the action in half guard but Stamper is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Stamper has managed to clinch.
Prototype is trying to stall.

Prototype gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Prototype wants to stand but Stamper is controlling his posture from full guard.
Prototype wants to control from the top but Stamper keeps moving.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Stamper looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Prototype sitting in guard here, content to control.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Stamper has a closed guard, preventing Prototype from standing up.
Stamper not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Prototype controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Patrick Prototype hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Prototype with a lazy takedown attempt
and Stamper counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Stamper is looking to slow Prototype down with leg kicks.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Prototype tries to clinch but Stamper is having none of it.

Stamper clinches up against the cage.
Stamper lands with a short shot to the head.

Stamper works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Prototype has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Stamper can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Stamper wants to control from the top but Prototype keeps moving.
Stamper postures up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Stamper trying to control the position from guard on top but Prototype is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Stamper is looking to work some ground and pound but Prototype has wrist control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Harry Stamper will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Stamper shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Prototype as he jumps to the side.
Prototype leaves Stamper with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Prototype looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Prototype is looking to clinch.
Stamper scores with a crisp jab that stopped Prototype in his tracks.

Stamper clinches up with Prototype and pushes him back against the cage.
Stamper is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Prototype is defending well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Harry Stamper. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Stamper jumps guard but Prototype stands there with Stamper around his waist. Stamper gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Prototype takes a knee to the side of the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stamper manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Stamper is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Prototype tries to pull guard but Stamper won't allow it.
Stamper tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Prototype smiles and moves away.
Prototype fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Stamper connects with a high kick.

Prototype closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Stamper's guard.

Stamper had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Prototype defends it easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stamper can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Prototype controls the pace.
Prototype pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Stamper is keeping the position for now.
Stamper working a defensive guard here.
Prototype postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stamper is trying to control the position but Prototype postures up.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Prototype trying to control the position from guard on top but Stamper is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Harry Stamper has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Stamper throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Prototype's waist but Prototype gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Stamper off to one side.

Stamper gets caught napping as Prototype dives in and scores a takedown. Stamper manages to retain guard.
Prototype controls from within his opponent's guard.
Stamper trying to control the position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Stamper keeping moving, preventing Prototype from controlling successfully.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Patrick Prototype hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Stamper chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Stamper misses with a body kick.
Prototype shoots in for a takedown but Stamper shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Prototype gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Stamper's corner is telling him to maintain position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Patrick Prototype will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Prototype shoots in but Stamper avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Prototype fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Stamper moves into the clinch.
Prototype prevents a takedown attempt there.

Stamper decides to pull guard.

Prototype drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Prototype seems to have locked his on tight now - Stamper screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Prototype, as he picks up the win!
