PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Oleg Alekseev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Probert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alekseev comes into the arena with Imperium blaring out of the sound system. Bob Probert will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Oleg Alekseev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bob Probert!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Viktor Lagutenko and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Alekseev feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Alekseev scoring with punches to the head and body.
Probert wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Alekseev manages to pass to side control.
Alekseev lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Alekseev connects with a nice short shot to Probert's temple.
Alekseev throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Probert really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Alekseev. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Probert can do anything to dispel that myth.

It looks like Bob Probert has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ground and pound from Alekseev.
Alekseev is nestled in close to Probert, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Alekseev is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alekseev seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.


That has opened up Bob Probert's cut even more.

Alekseev is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Probert is trying to stand back up but Alekseev is controlling him

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The cut above Bob Probert's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Alekseev landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.


Bob Probert's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Bob Probert's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Oleg Alekseev!
Oleg Alekseev seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
